Exclusive Tag-Along Self-Drive Tours

Our Exclusive Tag-Along service is designed for families, friends, private groups and corporate groups who want to explore the UAE desert in their own 4×4 vehicles while being led by an experienced desert guide.

Unlike our regular Liwa Tag-Along programs, an Exclusive Tag-Along is operated solely for your booking. No unrelated participants or vehicles are added to your convoy. This gives your group greater flexibility to choose the location, duration, driving level and style of desert experience.

Whether you are planning a short dune drive, a full-day adventure or an overnight desert journey, the route can be adapted to your group’s experience and interests. Available in Dubai, Abu Dhabi & Liwa.

Private 4×4 Desert Adventures

Our experienced desert guide will lead your convoy throughout the journey, taking care of route planning, navigation, safety briefings, radio communication and convoy organization. The route and level of difficulty can be adapted to the experience of the participating drivers and the prevailing desert conditions.

Exclusive Tag-Along programs can be arranged in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Liwa, from shorter dune drives to extended desert and camping adventures.

TAG-X-1 – Half Day Tour
Duration: Up to 3 hours
A private guided desert drive for groups looking for a shorter off-road experience. The route and driving level are adapted to the participating vehicles, driver experience and desert conditions.

TAG-X-2 – Extended Half Day Tour
Duration: Up to 6 hours
A longer private Tag-Along experience allowing more time for dune driving, exploration and stops along the route.

TAG-X-3 – One-Day Camping
Duration: Up to 24 hours
A private desert journey combining extended off-road driving with an overnight camping experience. The route, campsite and itinerary are planned according to the location, group requirements and prevailing desert conditions. Please note: This is a guided Tag-Along program only. Participants provide their own camping equipment, meals, food and personal supplies.

TAG-X-4 – Two-Day Camping
Duration: Up to 48 hours
An extended Exclusive Tag-Along experience for groups wanting to travel deeper into the desert and spend more time exploring remote areas, combining extended dune driving, camping and desert exploration. Please note: This is a guided Tag-Along program only. Participants provide their own camping equipment, meals, food and personal supplies.

How the Exclusive Tag-Along Rates Work

The price consists of a one-time guide fee plus the applicable rate for each participating 4×4 vehicle. Additional hours can be arranged at the published hourly rate. For example, for TAG-X-1 with one participating 4×4: AED 1,080 guide fee + AED 730 joining vehicle = AED 1,810 total.

Exclusive Booking

TAG-X packages are operated exclusively for the booking party. No unrelated participants or vehicles will be added to the tour. All participating vehicles must form part of the same group and booking.

Who Can Join Our Exclusive Tag-Along?

• Participants should join with their own suitable 4×4 vehicle or an appropriately insured rental 4×4.
• Drivers should have sufficient desert-driving experience for the selected route. The route and level of difficulty can be adapted to the experience of the group.
• Drivers with little or no previous desert-driving experience are encouraged to complete our 4×4 Desert Driving Course before joining a more demanding Exclusive Tag-Along program.

Where Do We Operate?

Exclusive Tag-Along programs can be arranged in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Liwa / Al Dhafra.

The exact meeting point, route and itinerary are agreed according to the selected program, group requirements, driver experience and prevailing desert conditions.

For longer programs, customized routes and desert expeditions within the UAE can also be discussed on request.

Vehicle Suitability

Participating vehicles must be suitable for off-road desert driving and in good mechanical condition. The vehicle should have adequate ground clearance, suitable recovery points and a proper 4WD system.

Examples include the Nissan Patrol, Toyota Land Cruiser, Toyota Prado, Jeep Wrangler, Toyota FJ Cruiser and other comparable 4×4 vehicles.

If you are unsure whether your vehicle is suitable, please contact us before booking and provide the make, model and year for confirmation.

What Is Not Included?

• Mechanical or electrical repairs to participating vehicles
• Repairs for tyre, wheel or body damage
• Spare parts or replacement components
• Towing or transportation of a disabled vehicle to a garage
• Any other repair or recovery costs resulting from a vehicle breakdown or damage
• Camping equipment, meals or catering unless specifically included or arranged in advance

Terms & Conditions

• All Exclusive Tag-Along programs are subject to availability and advance reservation.
• Advance payment is required to confirm the booking. The required payment amount will be advised at the time of reservation.
• Published rates are in AED; USD amounts are approximate equivalents.
• In case of cancellation after payment, any refund or change of date is at the company’s discretion.
• Rescheduling may be subject to an additional charge depending on circumstances and costs already incurred.
• Routes, timings and activities may be adjusted according to weather, desert conditions, safety requirements or operational circumstances.
• Rub’ Al Khali Desert Tourism LLC reserves the right to postpone, modify or cancel a program if conditions are considered unsuitable or unsafe.

Liabilities & Safety Guidelines

• Off-road desert driving involves inherent risks, and all participants join the Exclusive Tag-Along program voluntarily and at their own responsibility.
• Drivers are responsible for ensuring that their vehicle is roadworthy, properly insured and suitable for off-road desert driving.
• All drivers must follow the guide’s instructions and safety procedures throughout the program.
• Drivers remain responsible for their own vehicle and for damage resulting from mechanical failure, negligence, reckless driving or failure to follow safety instructions.
• Children and other passengers remain under the responsibility and supervision of the participating driver or accompanying adults at all times.
• Participants should remain clear of moving vehicles and avoid standing directly in front of or behind vehicles during stops and recovery situations.
• Before leaving a vehicle, drivers must ensure it is securely parked, particularly when stopped on slopes or uneven terrain.
• Participants may be required to sign a disclaimer/acknowledgement form before entering the desert.

Camping equipment, meals and catering are not included in the standard TAG-X rates unless specifically arranged and confirmed in advance.

• Serviceable spare wheel and wheel-changing tools
• Valid vehicle registration and UAE driving licence
• Appropriate motor insurance, including off-road use where applicable

• Tyre pressure gauge
