A suitable 4×4 is provided, so you can simply enjoy the experience.
Your Private Self-Drive Desert Experience
Unlike a conventional desert safari where you are simply a passenger, this experience puts you behind the wheel. After an introduction to the basic principles of desert driving, you will drive a specially provided 4×4 on the dunes under the direct supervision of an experienced professional instructor.
Choose a Morning or Afternoon Experience
Morning Self-Drive Experience
Start your day with a private desert-driving experience, with hotel pickup approximately between 8:00 and 9:00 AM. The complete experience takes approximately 3–4 hours, including hotel pickup and return.
Optional Desert Picnic
Extend your morning experience with a relaxed private picnic in the desert. A typical picnic includes fresh salad, a selection of sandwiches, fresh fruit or fruit salad, refreshments, followed by tea or coffee. The exact menu may vary. With the Desert Picnic, the total programme duration is approximately 4–5 hours.
Afternoon Self-Drive Experience
Enjoy your private desert-driving experience in the afternoon, with hotel pickup from approximately 3:00 PM. The complete experience takes approximately 3–4 hours, including hotel pickup and return.
Optional Arabian Nights Experience
Continue to a traditional desert camp for a BBQ buffet dinner, live entertainment and selected camp activities. The exact entertainment programme and activities may vary depending on the camp and operating day. With the Arabian Nights Experience, the total programme duration is approximately 5–6 hours.

- Hotel pickup and return within Dubai or Abu Dhabi city
- A suitable 4×4 for the desert-driving experience, typically a Toyota Land Cruiser or similar, subject to availability
- Fuel and necessary desert/recovery equipment
- An experienced professional desert-driving guide/instructor
- Up to approximately 2 hours of practical desert driving, adapted to the participant’s ability and confidence

- Certificate of Completion for each participating driver

Rates & Options
Before You Drive
- Participating drivers must be 21 years or older and hold a valid driving licence
- No previous desert-driving experience is required — the experience is suitable for beginners
- The standard language of instruction is English
- Recommended season: October to April. Experiences outside this period may be arranged on request, subject to weather and operating conditions
- Accompanying children must be 6 years or older
