Do I need previous desert-driving experience?
No. The UAE 4×4 Self-Drive Desert Experience is suitable for beginners, and no previous desert-driving or off-road experience is required. An experienced professional desert-driving instructor will accompany and supervise you throughout the practical driving session.
Do I need to bring or rent my own 4×4?
No. A suitable 4×4 is provided for the desert-driving experience, typically a Toyota Land Cruiser or similar, subject to availability. Fuel and the necessary desert and recovery equipment are also included.
What driving licence do I need?
Participating drivers must be at least 21 years old and hold a valid driving licence. A copy of your driving licence may be requested before final confirmation of your booking.
How many people can join the experience?
The experience is private and accommodates up to four guests in total per participating 4×4. This can be one participating driver with up to three accompanying passengers, or two participating drivers with up to two accompanying passengers.
Can a second person also drive?
Yes. One additional participating driver may be added for AED 500 (approx. USD 140). Both drivers must be at least 21 years old and hold a valid driving licence. The available practical driving time will be shared between the two drivers.
Can children join the experience?
Yes. Children aged 6–12 years may join as accompanying passengers. Guests aged 13 years and above are considered adults. Children under 6 years are not accepted on this programme.
How long is the experience?
The standard programme takes approximately 3–4 hours from hotel pickup to return, including up to approximately two hours of practical desert driving. The actual driving time may be adapted according to the participant’s ability, confidence and comfort.
Where will the desert driving take place?
The desert training area is selected according to the pickup location, desert conditions and operational requirements. Final arrangements will be confirmed before the experience.
What time will I be picked up?
Morning pickups are normally between approximately 8:00 and 9:00 AM. Afternoon pickups are normally from approximately 3:00 PM. The exact pickup time will be confirmed before the experience and may vary slightly depending on the season, accommodation location and operational requirements.
Where do you provide pickup and return?
Hotel or residence pickup and return are included within Dubai city or Abu Dhabi city. Pickup from locations outside these areas may be arranged on request, subject to availability and additional charges where applicable.
What are the Desert Picnic and Arabian Nights options?
The optional Desert Picnic extends the morning programme to approximately 4–5 hours and includes a relaxed private picnic in the desert. The optional Arabian Nights Experience extends the afternoon programme to approximately 5–6 hours and includes a traditional desert camp with BBQ buffet dinner, live entertainment and selected camp activities. Exact menus, entertainment and activities may vary.
Can dietary requirements or food allergies be accommodated?
Please advise us in advance of any dietary requirements or food allergies when booking the Desert Picnic or Arabian Nights Experience. We will do our best to accommodate them, subject to availability.
When is the best time of year for this experience?
The recommended season is October to April. Experiences outside this period may be arranged on request, subject to weather and operating conditions.
How do I book and when is my reservation confirmed?
Advance booking is required and all reservations are subject to availability. After receiving your reservation request, we will confirm availability and send you the payment information. Full advance payment is made in USD via PayPal. Your booking is confirmed only after payment has been received and written confirmation has been issued.
What happens if I need to cancel or change my booking?
In case of cancellation after payment, any refund or change of date is at the company’s discretion. Rescheduling may be subject to an additional charge depending on the circumstances and costs already incurred.
